11 Tips to drink more water

Water is an extremely important necessity in our lives and without it we can't survive. I have already wrote about why we should drink more water and its benefits, now I'm going to write some top tips on getting yourself to drink enough water on a daily basis.

I've put together a list of 11 top tips to help you stick to this important task:

1. 2 Litre bottle

Get yourself a 2 litre bottle, fill it up with water and try to drink it through the day. By doing this you have a clear idea of how much water you have drank and how much water you have left to go.

2. Water rich foods

When wanting to eat something, instead of snacking on unhealthy food, try water rich foods ( such as fruits and vegetables). These are exceptionally refreshing as well as abundant in water:
  • Chard - Consisting of 97% water when boiled. Its full of vitamins, iron and minerals.
  • Tomato - Containing 93% water.
  • Melon - A very tasty treat containing 92% water.
  • Cucumbers
  • Radish 
  • Lettuce
  • Pumpkins
3. Routine glass of water

Having a routinely glass of water can aid you greatly in drinking more water.
For example: Having one when you get up; having one with breakfast, lunch and tea; having one between meals; having one before bed. - It all adds up.

4. Go half

When you have something like apple juice; orange juice; grape juice, fill half the glass with water. Although I don't think it tastes that nice when doing this.

5. Timed Glass

Much like the routinely glass, you could have one at every hour interval. This will definitely make certain that you get enough water a day.

6. Reward

Don't allow yourself  a drink like coffee or soda, until you've drank 4 full glasses of water first. If you want another drink other than water again, just repeat the process.

7. On-hand

Try to carry a small refillable bottle of water on you, as much as you can. Drink while you have any spare time: Queue's; public transport; waiting for something/someone; walking etc.


8. Challenge someone

Challenge someone you know, to who can drink the most water in a day.

9. Record

Keep a record of how much water you drink a day. Then see what your personal high score is and try to beat it.

10. The benefits

Remind yourself of the benefits.

11. Add lemons/limes

Add a lemon or lime to your glass of water, giving it an improved taste. Be wary not to add too much, not wanting it to be too sour. Just a couple of drops should be the trick.
