Armed with just a toy lightsaber, David Canterbury (33) was seized and arrested by police after attacking customers at the store Toys R Us in Portland, and then attacking the police.
Judge Kenneth Walker sentenced David Canterbury to 45 days in jail. David Canterbury told Judge Walker that he is seeking mental health treatment, and has since apologised to his victims.
The police said that on arrival, David Canterbury was wielding two lightsabers, one in each hand, and had attacked three customers. David then left the store with lightsabers in hand, to take on the police.
Armed with tasers, the police started to try and deliver the electric shock that would cripple David's body long enough to make the arrest, but were surprised when he successfully defended himself with his plastic lightsabers.
After failed attempts using tasers, the police then used 'force' to wrestle David to the ground where they were finally able to make the arrest.
Pete Sampson, from Portland police, has made a statement that, David was not wearing a jedi costume. He later added that he believed it was a blue lightsaber that David was using.
David has been banned from the store.
